“Without Help to Buy, we wouldn’t have been able to buy the home we really wanted” say Saxilby first-time buyers

A young couple in Saxilby have purchased their first home at Lovell Homes’ Ingleby View development, with the help of the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme.

Eleanor Rose, 24, and Stuart Cassey, 22, took their first steps onto the property ladder after getting engaged and made the move out of their rented home in Lincoln to a brand-new Lovell home with their border collie Clyde.

Eleanor, from Coventry, moved to Lincoln for University seven years ago, whereas Stuart, originally from Scotland, relocated to the city with his family when he was younger. The couple used the Help to Buy scheme in order to purchase their three-bedroom Haworth style home, which proved to be a huge help.

Eleanor, a University Training Co-Ordinator, said: “We used the scheme to get onto the property ladder and without it we wouldn’t have been able to get a mortgage for the home we really wanted, so it helped massively. We set a monthly budget and kept track of everything we were spending; we hadn’t planned to move this soon but fell in love with Ingleby View and the plot we went on to buy, so we had to say goodbye to date nights and treats for a while!

“We chose a new-build home not only to benefit from Help to Buy, but also because we felt reassured by the guarantees and customer care. We loved the idea of being the first ones to live in our home and customising it to how we wanted before we even moved in. It was the perfect way to kick off what will be an exciting few years for us.

“Ingleby View really stood out to us as we felt it had a lot of character, and we really liked the look and layout of the Lovell homes. We really wanted a big kitchen/dining room which opened onto the back garden so our Haworth property is more than ideal, and we love the size of the bedrooms, as well as having an en-suite to bedroom one.

“Ingleby View feels so safe and homely, there’s already a lovely community growing and we can’t wait to meet our neighbours properly once it is safe to do so.”

Stuart, a Sales Executive, added: “We wanted to move out of the city into a village and Saxilby had everything we were looking for. The local area is perfect; there’s plenty of amenities like shops, pubs and takeaways and lots of dog walks nearby, which was crucial to us, alongside great transport links to the city.

“The whole experience with Lovell was great from start to finish. Sharon, the sales executive, has been amazing and everyone we dealt with was so helpful. We had some delays with our mortgage due to Covid, but we were reassured and supported so much by Lovell throughout. Any queries we had were dealt with quickly and effectively, making the whole process a lot easier and less stressful.

“Moving home during the pandemic was a bit chaotic as we couldn’t get the help we would’ve normally and it’s a shame we haven’t been able to have any friends or family over yet to visit, but it also gave us plenty of time to settle in and enjoy our new home without any distractions or prior engagements.”

First-time buyers will be able to benefit from the new Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme*, using just a 5% deposit. The remaining amount is made up from a 75% mortgage and a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years. The new scheme will see regional price caps brought into effect, with the East Midlands limited to homes priced up to £261,900.

Ingleby View is open by appointment only, Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. For further information and to book your appointment visit Ingleby View or call 01522 844 226.
