Supporting Norfolk event for Hedgehog Awareness Week

Share

To support our local community in Norfolk, we are helping Emma’s Hedgehog Hotel's open day event this week.

Hedgehog Awareness Week runs from 1st-7th May 2022 and the team at Emma’s Hedgehog Hotel is holding an open day on Saturday 7th May to raise awareness of the importance of helping these vulnerable and endangered animals.

Hedgehogs are vital to the ecosystem as they work to control insect populations, keep gardens healthy and are used as an indicator species to measure the health of our local environment. At the event this week, there will be numerous activities for visitors to take part in and to learn more about what the charity does.

Emma’s Hedgehog Hotel is run solely by volunteers. This includes a group of drivers who collect sick and injured hedgehogs and transport them to the hotel where an ICU unit is available. Emma, who is a registered veterinary nurse, and her small but committed volunteers work towards the goal of removing hedgehogs from the vulnerable extinction list through rescue, rehabilitation and release. They help and care for up to 50 hedgehogs at any one time until they are ready to be released back into the wild, preferably back to their existing habitat.

The event will be held at their site at 28 Tuxhill Rd, Terrington St Clement, King's Lynn, PE34 4PX.

As this fantastic event is just 20 minutes from our Nar Valley Park development, we are thrilled to be supporting Emma and the team by supplying a portaloo for the event.
