Leading developer Lovell Homes is saying goodbye to its popular The Mill development in Canton, Cardiff, as it sells out over a year ahead of target.

Located on Sanatorium Road, The Mill is one of Wales’ largest regeneration programmes, creating a new urban village in Cardiff by bringing 800 contemporary homes to the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site.

The development is a stunning riverside collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes. The homes available for open market sale via Lovell Homes have now all sold due to high popularity, however properties are available for rent, managed by Cadwyn Housing Association for Tirion Homes.

To celebrate the end of this award-winning scheme, the Lovell sales team reminisced on their time at the development after working at The Mill since it launched in 2016.

Tracey Edrop, senior sales executive at Lovell, said: “At Lovell, we take a lot of pride in the homes and communities we create, and we’re all so proud of The Mill’s outstanding success. This wonderful development has sold out much quicker than we expected and come to completion over a year ahead of our target due to its popularity. We’re sad to say goodbye to The Mill and the lovely new community that’s been created, but we hope that the residents are enjoying their lives there and feel proud to call it home.”

Lorraine Battenbough, sales executive at The Mill, added: “The fantastic homes at The Mill have proven popular with all types of purchasers, from young professionals and downsizers, to growing families and those craving more space as they adapt to spending more time at home. We’re delighted at the thriving and vibrant community The Mill is now home to. There’s a real sense of community spirit, with the residents all coming together last Christmas to help raise over £2,000 for a local charity.”

Elaine Greaves, sales executive at The Mill, commented: “It’s been incredible to see all our hard work on this development come to an end and although it’ll be bittersweet to see The Mill go, we’re exceptionally proud of what we’ve achieved there. Following The Mill’s completion, myself and Lorraine will be retiring after working at Lovell for over 30 years. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of such a successful scheme and wonderful sales team, and I’m looking forward to seeing Lovell continue to find success as they grow within South Wales.”

Julie Bowen, regional sales director at Lovell, said: “We’re delighted at the huge sales success of The Mill, with all our homes selling out much sooner than anyone anticipated. I couldn’t be more grateful to the team for all their hard work and achievements, and I wish Lorraine and Elaine a very happy retirement.”

The Mill includes 358 homes for open market sale by Lovell and 442 homes for rent – which will be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association – for Tirion Homes. The scheme is going ahead with the support of the Welsh Government and financial backing from the Principality Building Society, and is being developed by Tirion Homes in partnership with Lovell.
