A Lincoln resident has recently participated in a charity boxing match at The Engine Shed in Lincoln, where over £12,000 was raised for Cancer Research UK.

Ben Reynolds, 29, joined over 50 fighters of all ages, both male and female, who came together to raise awareness of the issues faced by people living with cancer and to help fight the disease.

Currently working as a subcontractor for the Eastern region of Lovell, Ben has been working hard on both The Spires development in Branston and Ingleby View in Saxilby.

The cause was close to Ben’s heart as his grandmother is currently battling terminal cancer.  He said: “This event really meant so much to my family and I and we’re all extremely grateful to everybody who contributed towards the final figure, as well as those who attended on the night.

“It was great to get involved with such an amazing event for an even better cause and I can’t recommend it enough for anybody looking to get involved with the charity or just wants to improve their fitness.”

Raising almost £700 himself through ticket sales, donations and sponsors, Ben committed to an eight-week training programme leading up to the fight, as well as running and additional gym sessions to keep up his fitness levels.

The event was held by Ultra White Collar Boxing, which is a corporate partner of Cancer Research UK, with participants in its events helping to raise over £20 million to help beat cancer sooner.
