Lovell, the partnership housing division of the £3bn Morgan Sindall Group, has made its third senior appointment in as many months, continuing its investment and intentions to grow the southern region.
Launched in the summer, the region, which is based at its Exeter headquarters, will cover a geographical region from Plymouth in the west to Southampton on the south coast.
Tom MacLeod has joined the business as Head of Commercial with a wide remit to support the growth of the business including leading development appraisals and viabilities.
Tom, 37, was previously Preconstruction Commercial Manager at Galliford Try Partnerships in the south west and a senior manager at Enelco prior to that.
Tom said: “One of the main attractions of joining Lovell Southern was being here at the start and playing a part in creating something special. Being part of Morgan Sindall Group where the emphasis is to empower its staff to make decisions and support them is one that really excites me.”
Tom added: “With Lovell’s extensive expertise in housing led regeneration, working partnership ethos and a high demand for affordable homes, the aim is to build a sustainable business that will employ around 100 people direct and thousands through the local supply chain, whilst increasing housing capacity in the region.”
Regional managing director at Lovell Southern, Andrew Johnston, added: “I’m delighted to have Tom on board. He’s a team player and a great fit as we look to drive the business forward. Creating the right culture is vital for our long-term growth prospects and we will be attracting like-minded people who buy-into our exciting vision for the future.”
Andrew added: “Lovell has a great delivery model with ambitions to grow the business and its investment in the southern region demonstrates commitment to that strategy as well as to the wider affordable housing sector.
“Our main business objectives are to build much needed new private and affordable homes in the south west, invest in the communities in which we are working and employ local subcontractors further re-investing in the region. It’s an exciting time for Lovell and we expect to make some further announcements soon.”
