Lovell has announced the new senior management team that is driving its continued expansion across South Wales and the South West.

James Duffett was appointed as the region’s managing director back in March, following a 14-year career with engineering firm Laing O’Rourke. During that time, he acted as commercial leader on a number of major projects throughout the South West, including key schemes related to the residential, healthcare, scientific, and commercial sectors. James is also a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Julie Bowen has been with Lovell for 10 years, during which time she has risen to become sales director for the region. She now leads the sales team and brings a vast knowledge of the new homes market to the role, which she is using to boost sales and direct marketing opportunities to promote the region’s developments, and deliver sales targets.

Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director, has worked at Lovell for 15 years, having previously held roles within customer care, community engagement and business development. She now leads the land and partnerships team who are responsible for generating new business opportunities and working with housing associations, local authorities and government agencies to further develop current partnerships and new opportunities across the region.

Shane Jay, regional technical director, heads up the design and technical delivery of residential projects for the region. He has previously worked for Kier Living and Redrow as pre-construction manager and special projects manager respectively. Having held a range of senior management roles, including technical manager for Lovell between 2003 and 2011, he brings a significant level of expertise to the position.

Stuart Tarr, regional operations director, joined Lovell in January and has worked in a variety of managerial positions for Barratt and David Wilson, as well as Crest Nicholson. He is aiming to help Lovell achieve a five-star housebuilder rating by ensuring that homes are delivered on time and to the highest industry standards.

Anthony Vagges, regional commercial director, has worked at Lovell for over 20 years and was promoted from his previous role as the region’s chief surveyor to regional commercial director. Anthony oversees the commercial team of quantity surveyors, buyers and estimators and leads on all financial and legal aspects relating to the business’ operations across South Wales and the South West.

Collectively, the team will be responsible for spearheading the ongoing growth of Lovell’s South Wales and South West region, which succeeded in building 321 new homes in 2018, ranging from new-build open market homes, private rented sector housing and affordable properties to large-scale refurbishment and housing-led regeneration programmes.

Steve Coleby, managing director of Lovell, said: “We are thrilled to reveal our new senior management team for our South Wales and South West region.

“Each and every one of its members contributes a wide range of expertise and experience to their respective roles, placing us in an excellent position to capitalise on the opportunities that are currently presenting themselves across the region.”

Among the major projects that the region is currently working on is The Mill in Canton, West Cardiff, a £100 million urban village comprising 800 mixed tenure homes that represents one of the largest regeneration programmes in Wales.

Other existing schemes include Ymyl Yr Afon, a £25 million development that is bringing 153 much-needed homes to the site of a former colliery near Merthyr Tydfil, and Oakfield Grange in Cwmbran, a £13.6 million collection that is made up of 55 properties for open market sale and 23 houses for affordable rent.

Upcoming sites include Keepers Gate Weston super Mare, Golwg Y Bryn in Ebbw Vale. To find out more about Lovell, visit www.lovell.co.uk.
