Lovell has been awarded a top accolade at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards 2017. The company achieved the President’s award for health and safety performance in the prestigious annual award scheme run by the national safety charity.

This represents a thirteenth consecutive win for the Glasgow based company in the annual RoSPA Gold awards, underlining Lovell’s dedication to ensuring the highest safety standards at its construction sites and offices across Scotland.

The Lovell Scotland team was presented with the award during a special ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow hotel earlier this month. Now in its 61st year, the RoSPA Awards scheme is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. Judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Commenting on the award, regional managing director for Lovell in Scotland Stephen Profili said: “We have rigorous health and safety standards in place to ensure the safety of our workforce and the general public, which is our paramount concern. To be awarded Gold over 13 consecutive years is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff and I would like to pay tribute to everyone at the company who has helped to make this happen.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in occupational health and safety, and are held in high regard around the world. Winning an award demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and achieving the standard required is no mean feat. 2017 marks RoSPA’s centenary and we would like to take the opportunity to congratulate all of our winners in this particularly special year”.

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction are presented to organisations that have sustained the high standards required to achieve gold level over consecutive years.
