Leading developer Lovell is supporting the local community in Louth by sponsoring the Louth and District Lions Club in its recent annual Duck Race at Hubbard’s Hills which raised over £2000.
Lovell, which is currently building 70 homes located off Chestnut Drive in Louth, sponsored the event with £350. This money was put towards the prize money at the Duck Race to enable the proceeds to be donated to The Hubbard’s Hills’ Trust.
Lions Club International is the world's largest service club organisation with over 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members. Louth Lions strive to achieve their mission statement of empowering volunteers to serve their local communities.
The Duck Race is now in its eighth year. Previously the event had been held in different locations but it has called the beautiful Hubbard’s Hills home for the past five years. The profits from this year’s event are being used to make the area a better place for the Louth community.
Lovell’s donation was used to fund the prizes for five races. There were 14 races in total, seven of which provided cash prizes for the winners and seven of which were aimed at children with fewer ducks in the race and sweets and toys for the winners.
Robert Adams, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “At Lovell we aim to support local community groups and organisations as much as we can and that is why we are so proud to sponsor the Louth Lions’ Duck Race this year to enable their proceeds to go towards a great cause within the local area.”
Peter Moore, member of Louth Lions and co-organiser of the event, said: “We’re extremely grateful for Lovell’s kind contribution, which has been put towards the cost of running the event.
“This year’s Duck Race was fantastic, every year it seems to get more popular and we all had so much fun; the poor ducks had an exhausting day with 14 races.”
Last year the Louth Lions raised £18,000 which was donated to causes ranging from providing household equipment to members of Louth community, LIVES, Blood Bikers and local schools.
