For families looking to settle down in Manchester, Miles Platting offers a unique proposition. Nestled between the popular New Islington and Ancoats districts, Miles Platting has experienced more than 15 years of regeneration, with an influx of more than 600 new homes attracting young professionals and families to create a vibrant neighbourhood with bundles to offer parents and children alike.

We joined local influencer @JustAbigails and her family as they visited our latest development Saxon Square and took a walk around Miles Platting and the surrounding neighbourhoods to see what makes this area in the east of Manchester perfectly suited for families.

A stroll down Manchester’s canals

“My husband, two young children and I were all really excited for a day out in this area, being able to easily walk along the canal from Saxon Square. Wandering past the canal boats and ducks lining the water makes for a really pleasant experience that is unique in the city.

“The Rochdale and Ashton canals feed into the marina at New Islington, and it’s clear to see why this is such a vibrant and popular area, with shops and green space across the water that really appeals to young families looking to spend time in the fresh air.

“The area has some amazing character and it’s exciting to see how it will offer even more for families in the years to come.”

Coffee stop

“We popped into Pollen Bakery on the waterfront for a coffee and croissant. It’s a lovely venue for families, either as a pit stop during a day out or a picturesque waterside location to indulge in a freshly made breakfast or lunch.

“It’s a really trendy bakery and I could see why it also appeals to young professionals as a place to work and meet friends.”

Plenty of ways to entertain

“Taking a short ten-minute trip over to Mayfield Park, is absolutely worth it for a great day out in Manchester to enjoy the first new park in the city centre for 100 years. The green space is expansive with incredible play areas that kids could easily spend hours enjoying. It’s ideal to bring the kids’ bikes and scooters along too.

“Close by there is also Depot Mayfield, buzzing with lots of events and food options throughout the year underneath the old railway arches. There’s a cool, relaxed vibe and I would especially recommend to adult groups as a fun place to get together.

“For football fans a short walk also gets you to Manchester City’s football stadium. This now sits next to the exciting new indoor music arena Co-op Live, which I can’t wait to visit for a concert soon.”

Ancoats

“Easily within walking distance too is Ancoats, a staple area of the city that has all the amenities that you need for family living, be it supermarket, shops or a gym. It’s one of Manchester’s main cultural hubs with lots of events, such as the popular makers market, suitable for all ages.”

Settle down in the four-bedroom Heartford home

“After a long day out in New Islington and the nearby neighbourhoods having a comfortable, family home close by to return to makes all the difference. The four-bedroom Heartford within the Lovell development at Saxon Square, just south of the Rochdale Canal in Miles Platting, achieves just that.

“This beautiful home is perfect for busy families with plenty of open living space to live, work and play, lots of extra storage and an impressive garden.

“With easy access to some of the most vibrant areas of the city, great commutability and several schools close by, it’s an ideal first home for young families wanting a taste of the Manchester lifestyle.

“This new home is also part of the ‘Own New – Rate Reducer’ initiative, which means you can enjoy lower mortgage rates on your new home.”
