DICKSON AND DIONNE REDISCOVER THEIR CITY CENTRE LIFE IN ANCOATS

AFTER relocating from their native Hong Kong, Dickson, 59, and Dionne, 56, have chosen to settle down in the heart of Manchester to enjoy their well-earned retirement. After many recommendations from friends, the couple made the decision to purchase a new build at Lovell Homes’ The Gateway development in Ancoats to really make the most of city living.

Familiar surroundings

When Dickson and Dionne first moved to the UK, they rented a house further outside Manchester but soon found that this didn’t quite meet all of their needs. As a retired couple, who are accustomed to city life, they realised they wanted the benefits of having everything they needed on their doorstep and made a decision to look closer to the centre.

Dickson said: “Many of our friends who moved from Hong Kong chose Manchester because of its status as one of the biggest cities in the UK and the living opportunities available there, so they convinced us that we should set down roots. They also recommended that we buy a new build because it would be more energy efficient and with needing little work to be done - allowing us to save time and money.

“We would recommend Lovell as a developer for high standards of quality living in a home close to Manchester city centre.”

Oozing with quality

Dickson continued: “We were attracted to The Gateway because it is a high-end residential development in the city that could provide us with a quality living space. We wanted a four-bedroom home that we could invite friends over to enjoy and Lovell had exactly what we were looking for.

“Dionne and I love gardening and generally being outdoors, so the outdoor space of the property plus the green space opposite the developments really appealed to our way of living.

“We immediately felt comfortable with the idea of living in this small community with a likeminded yet diverse community of neighbours.”

Now settled into their home, the couple love that everything they need is close by - with less than 20 minutes travel to the Arndale shopping centre and Manchester Victoria station. Having accessible amenities in the city, such as the Chinese superstore just ten minutes away, has made the living experience in the area much more welcoming to their needs.

“We are delighted with the property that we bought at The Gateway and the ideal location of the development. Moving to another country can be daunting but the friendly community on the development has really made us feel at home"
