Cwmbran pupils meet prickly visitor!

Share

Pupils enjoyed a prickly encounter with a recent visitor to Llantarnam Community Primary School in Cwmbran.

Scarlett the hedgehog was introduced to children by Hedgehog Rescue charity founder Yvonne Cox, who also gave a talk about the rescue centre’s conservation work. The event, arranged by local homes developer Lovell, included hedgehog-themed face painting and an interactive home-building activity – the Lovell House challenge – with pupils assembling a mini wooden house using their team-building and maths skills.

Seventy pupils enjoyed tackling the challenge and found out more about the different job roles involved in delivering a housing development, as well as getting inspiration for designing their own housing sites.

Lovell, which is building nearby homes development Oakfield Grange, organised the session as part of its commitment to engaging and involving the communities where it works. It also supports the company’s ongoing safety awareness campaign educating children and young people about the potential dangers involved with construction activity.

Lovell community coordinator Bernadette Vickery says: “It was great to work with the children and help them learn about wildlife as well as discover more about what’s going on in their area.
We look forward to continuing to work with the school as our housing development progresses and are currently arranging for pupils to visit us on site at Oakfield Grange where they’ll be able to meet our development team and get a closer look at the new homes.”

The marketing suite and show homes at Oakfield Grange, Cwmbran, Torfaen NP44 3DU are open seven days a week, 10am – 5pm. Find out more by calling the Lovell sales team on 01633 730 975.
