Students from Lancaster Lane Community Primary School have received a special donation from Lovell Homes, the housebuilder behind the area’s Oaktree Grange and Shawbrook Manor developments, in recognition of World Book Day (5 March 2020).

They joined two other primary schools and one nursery, all located within the North West communities where Lovell Homes is active, in receiving £100 worth of books. They were also gifted copies of “The Little Lost Hedgehog” – a book previously created by the housebuilder alongside budding authors from Lancaster Lane Community Primary School.

Anne-Marie O’Doherty, regional sales director for Lovell Homes North West, said: “World Book Day is now something of a phenomenon with school children across the country, and even worldwide, dressing up as their favourite character for the day.

“We worked with each school to give the teachers and students the chance to choose the books they wanted the most - we hope this will further engage the pupils in the power of storytelling and encourage a passion for books from a young age.

“We’re committed to building relationships, as well as homes, within the communities where  our developments are based - celebrating World Book Day alongside schools in the area was a great way to do this and just one of the many projects we have planned for this year.”

World Book Day is a registered charity with the mission of giving every child a book of their own. It has become a worldwide celebration of reading and is now marked in over 100 countries.

Lovell Homes has developments in the communities surrounding the schools it worked with this World Book Day; Woodlark Chase in Thornton Cleveleys, Weston Woods in Weston, Shawbrook Manor in Leyland, and Oaktree Grange in Clayton-Le-Woods.

The other lucky schools and nurseries that received the books were Norbreck Primary Academy in Thornton Cleveleys, Poppy and Jack’s Nursery in Weston and Weston Village Primary School.
