Dining room for smaller spaces
Don’t let the lack of a dedicated dining room stop you from creating the perfect setting. Many of our new homes are built with modern living in mind which means lots of open spaces.  This means today’s living areas are often multifunctional, so if you want to create a designer dining experience in a corner of your kitchen, you can.

In this example, we’ve contrasted comfy mauve dining chairs with a chunky glass table, both chair and table legs match in a stylish oak stylish.  Choose co-ordinating colours for tableware, ornaments and as we’ve demonstrated here, a roman blind which also features calming mauve. Add a table centrepiece such a vase with fresh or dried flowers to add a final flourish. Hanging a mirror nearby will reflect light back into the room and give the feeling of a larger space.

A rustic dining room with an accent colour

A dark wood dining table and flooring adds a rustic feel to this stunning dining area. By positioning the dining table near to French doors, light floods in to make this multi-functional dining area feel more spacious. Providing a dining room with a view can delight your guests and add a sense of al-fresco dining.
Where a room is neutrally decorated, it is a great idea to add a strong vibrant colour as an accent. We’ve chosen burnt orange for this dining area which is the perfect complement to the dark wooden furniture. With plates, flowers and cushions featuring the accent colour, elements of the whole room are pulled together to give a professionally designed feel.

Bright and light with standout features
Nothing says clean and stylish like white and silver. We’ve paired modern white chairs and table with silver glassware and candle holders as well as mounting a striking oversized silver mirror to the wall.  Adding a large green plant can balance the abundance of bright white as can the addition of a subtle accent colour for tableware, in this case a delicate pale teal.
Create a lasting impression and a unique talking point with a feature lighting display such as this fabulous light cluster made from upturned wine glasses. We’ll drink to that!

Classic and neutral
For a relaxing and calming dining experience, choose neutral décor for your dining room walls and window dressings. We’ve added pale yellow flowers as a centre-piece here and opted for a textured wallpaper to give a beautiful and luxurious finish. End your day with a fine dining experience in the luxury of your own home.

Leather and gold
Bring an element of opulence to dinner time. Guests will feel a million dollars surrounded by gold accents and sumptuous leather seating. Dress your table to impress with co-ordinating black tableware.
You can really see the wine and conversation flowing until the late hours in a grown-up dining room like this where closing the double doors will add extra privacy if you need to shut off from the rest of the home.

Inspired by the country
We have homes in the city and we have homes in the country. This beautiful dining room has taken everything we love about the countryside and brought it right home to roost. Wall art echoes the seating fabric, lampshade and roman blind and a natural trail of ivy is possibly the prettiest table runner we’ve seen. Cut glass wine glasses and wire bird cages add delicate features to really treat your diners to an elegant environment. Guests can leave their boots at the door and settle into a cosy country dining experience to remember right here.
If you need additional storage in your dining room, adding a traditional dresser can add valuable space for storing table and glassware, freeing up space in your kitchen.
