Top work by Chelmsford project manager wins leading industry award
Lovell project manager John Mills has been officially declared among the cream of his profession for his work on a major homes development in London.
John is celebrating receiving a Pride in the Job 2018 Quality Award – the highest honour available to site management professionals – for the superb standards achieved on 24 brand-new homes built by Lovell in the capital.
The Pride in the Job awards – organised by the NHBC (National House-Building Council) – recognise managers whose schemes have achieved all-round excellence. This year’s winners represent the top three per cent of the 16,000 construction professionals entered into the competition.
John, who has worked for Lovell since 2016, says: “On behalf of the entire team who worked on this project, I’m extremely pleased and proud to have won this award. Our goal is always to build homes which meet the very highest standards so to have the quality of this scheme acknowledged by the NHBC is a real honour which recognises the efforts and expertise of everyone involved.”
Lovell regional managing director Richard Vining comments: “Pride in the Job Quality Awards are only given to the very best managers and schemes. This is an amazing achievement by John and one which he thoroughly deserves. He and his team should be very proud.”
To win a Pride in the Job Award, construction managers must excel during a rigorous judging process looking at all aspects of their management of a development including standards of workmanship, welfare of staff, leadership skills, technical expertise and health and safety.
John will find out if he is through to the competition’s next stage at the London and South East Pride in the Job dinner on Friday, 7 September, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. He will compete for a Seal of Excellence award and the opportunity to become a Regional award winner who will represent London and the South East at the Supreme Awards gala next year.
NHBC chief executive Steve Wood says: “Pride in the Job recognises the hugely important role site managers play in delivering high quality new homes for residents and homeowners across the UK. Their role is undoubtedly one of the toughest in housebuilding, they really do make the difference to quality on site. Many congratulations to all of the 2018 Quality Award winners.”
