Lovell hosted a special edition of the Today programme, Radio 4’s flagship news and current affairs show at its Victoria Place development in Birkenhead.

Focusing on the national shortage of new homes, the programme was broadcast live from Lovell’s new development in Church Road, where the company is building 50 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes for sale.

One of the brand-new show homes, which are set to be officially unveiled this weekend (6 May), was specially transformed into a studio for the three-hour broadcast.

Interviewees included Lovell managing director Jonathan Goring who spoke to presenter Mishal Husain about Lovell’s role in helping tackle the housing crisis by building new homes in partnerships with housing associations and local authorities. He also revealed the ‘phenomenal’ response which homes at Victoria Place have attracted from local buyers. Two-bedroom homes at the scheme, which is a mile from the centre of Birkenhead, start from £113,995. Homes are also available through the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme.

“It’s an appealing development in a brilliant location and a great example of our ability to work with our partners to deliver homes which are in the right place and at the right price for local people,” says Jonathan Goring.

“We were really excited to welcome Radio 4 and show them what we’re doing to meet the needs of buyers, particularly first-time purchasers.”

Victoria Place is part of a wider redevelopment in Church Road which also includes 25 homes for The Regenda Group which will be for affordable rent.
