Mayor of Cockermouth Alan Tyson declared the new play area at The Laureates officially open with a ribbon cutting ceremony last Saturday (15 July).

The Mayor was joined by residents of The Laureates who enjoyed free ice creams served from a vintage ice cream tricycle.

The play park which includes swings, slides and a small climbing wall is predominantly made from wood to complement its surroundings, with seating placed close to activities so adults can keep a close eye on little ones.

Trees have been planted over benches and seating which, when matured, will provide extra shade for parents and children.

The Laureates’ high quality finish has been followed through to the play park with landscaped areas and wooden balustrade fencing to bolster the existing country feel and rural environment the development is set within.

Mayor of Cockermouth, Alan Tyson said: “It’s been lovely meeting local residents at The Laureates, all of whom seem thrilled with the new play area which offers a safe outdoor space for their children to enjoy.”

Clare Noakes, regional sales director at Lovell commented “Lovell is committed to building homes with a lasting legacy for our residents and we are excited we can provide a new family focussed area for this thriving new community at The Laureates.”
