Lovell Homes has signed up to support this year’s RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. Taking place from 26 – 28 January, Lovell developments and its staff across the North West have pledged to participate in the world’s largest garden wildlife survey.

Over half a million people now regularly take part in the annual survey which enables the RSPB to monitor trends and help them create a snapshot of bird numbers across the UK. And while some changes in bird numbers can seem scary – the UK has lost more than half its house sparrows and some three-quarters of its starlings - since the RSPB’s Birdwatch began blue tit numbers have risen by 20% and the woodpigeon population has increased by a whopping 800%.

Lovell Homes is encouraging its staff and residents at its developments across the North West, including Oaktree Grange in Clayton-le-Woods, The Laureates in Cockermouth, New Acres in Carlisle, Minshull Way in Birkenhead, East Avenue in Openshaw and Weaver Park in Manchester, to sign up to take part.

During the weekend, those taking part in the survey are tasked with watching the birds in their garden or local park for an hour and recording the number of different species they see. Results can then be submitted online or by post. To sign up to the survey visit www.rspb.org.uk.

To celebrate Big Garden Birdwatch, Lovell Homes will be gifting an official RSPB bird box to all those who reserve a home during January at its developments across the NW* including its newest development, Oaktree Grange in Clayton le Woods. Located in a stunning semi-rural location in Lancashire, Oaktree Grange offers a discerning collection of 3,4 and 5-bedroom homes and is home to a plethora of wildlife.

Anne-Marie O’Doherty, regional sales director Lovell North West said: “At Lovell we carefully consider the environmental impact of every new development. This is achieved through set procedures and policies which endeavour to mitigate the impact on wildlife habitats and ecology; encouraging wildlife and biodiversity growth wherever possible.

“We’re delighted to be supporting this year’s RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch campaign and with developments located right across the North West, we’re encouraging as many Lovell staff and residents to sign up and take part in the survey to help the RSPB get as accurate a picture as they can of wildlife across the region.”

*Bird boxes will be provided to purchasers upon completion and applies to home buyers at the following developments: New Acres, The Laureates, Oaktree Grange, Minshull Way, Green Bank and Weaver Park.
