Lovell site manager Paul Phillips has shown he’s one of the best in the business by securing a top award for his outstanding work on the company’s new Parc Eglwys housing development at Bassaleg near Newport.
Paul, 32, has won an NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award by demonstrating exceptional standards at Parc Eglwys both in the quality of the new homes and his overall management of the site.
“I’m chuffed to bits,” says Paul who lives in Blackwood, near Caerphilly. “It’s been a lot of hard work but the award is in no way just down to me - credit must also go to the great team I have working with me on site, including our subcontractors. It’s fantastic for everyone.”
Lovell regional director David Gough says: “This is a stunning achievement by Paul and thoroughly deserved. He is a superb site manager who consistently excels in every aspect of delivering a new housing development and is totally dedicated to building homes of the highest quality. We couldn’t be more pleased for him.” To win a Pride in the Job Quality Award, managers undergo rigorous testing including spot checks of their site and they are also assessed across 38 areas of site management, including consistency in the build process, technical knowledge and organisational skills.
The Pride in the Job Quality Award will be presented at a special lunch in September at Cardiff City Hall. Paul will also go forward for the next round of the competition where he will be eligible to win a Seal of Excellence certificate.
Paul began working in the construction industry in 2001 as a forklift driver and labourer, quickly progressing into site management and gaining NVQ qualifications. He has worked for Lovell since 2008. This is the second time he has won a Pride in the Job Quality Award for his exceptional work.Back
