Apprenticeships

Lovell apprentices receive the best teaching in the best facilities with the best support. There is no better apprenticeship.

Our apprenticeships are genuinely unique. Apprentices complete all their formal learning at the residential Lovell Craft Academy, an intensive way of learning that produces remarkable results. The Craft Academy has completion rates of 86%. The national average is 70%.

Apprentices choose one of four disciplines: Bricklaying; Carpentry; Painting and Decorating; and Maintenance Operations. Learning takes place in eight one-week residential blocks. Apprentices join a two year programme and can expect to complete their NVQ Level 2 in just 18 months. They can then hone the skills they've gained on site before consideration of extending the apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3.

All apprenticeships are fully-funded and we pay all costs associated with apprentices' stay at the Craft Academy. On top of that, all apprentices are given a toolkit, all the personal protective equipment they need, and we help ensure they get their all-important CSCS card.

Our partner in the apprenticeship programme is Stephenson College in Leicestershire, where the Craft Academy is based. It is a new, purpose-built site containing all the latest equipment and facilities. We offer apprentices unrivalled support (including a dedicated apprenticeship manager), excellent resources and brilliant teaching.   We recognise that the residential Academy will not suit everyone, so also offer traditional apprenticeships in local colleges where appropriate.

We expect candidates for apprenticeships to hold GCSE Maths, English and Science at Grade C.  Holding the Construction & Built Environment Diploma at Foundation Level or above would be an advantage.

Our apprenticeships result in jobs - usually with Lovell or one of our trusted sub-contractors. There is no better start to a career in construction.

Lovell apprentices are fully employed and attend college on block release for about ten weeks each year.
