Lovell is committed to apprenticeships as an important way of bringing a diverse range of talented people into the company and the construction industry. Our apprentices receive the best teaching in select local colleges or in a residential programme at Stephenson College in Leicestershire, with every apprenticeship featuring focused on-site mentoring and support. There is no better apprenticeship.
We offer a wide range of apprenticeships, reflecting our work in new build, refurbishment and responsive maintenance. These include:
-
Bricklaying
-
Carpentry
-
Electrical
-
Fitted Interiors
-
Maintenance Operations
-
Painting and Decorating
-
Plumbing
Apprentices join a two year programme and can expect to complete their NVQ Level 2 in around 18 months. They can then hone the skills they've gained on site before consideration of extending the apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3. All apprenticeships are fully-funded and we pay all costs associated with apprentices' training programme and qualification. On top of that, all apprentices are given a toolkit, all the personal protective equipment they need, and we help ensure they get their all-important CSCS card.
Our partner in the apprenticeship programme is ConstructionSkills, the sector skills council for construction which is also the industry training board. We offer apprentices unrivalled support (including a dedicated mentor), excellent resources and brilliant teaching.
We expect candidates for apprenticeships to hold GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above. We sometimes work with local agencies to deliver apprenticeships in areas of economic disadvantage or social deprivation and in these programmes academic qualifications are not a barrier to entry. Passion and commitment however are never disregarded. Holding the Construction & Built Environment Diploma at Foundation Level or above would be an advantage.
Our apprenticeships result in jobs - usually with Lovell or one of our trusted sub-contractors.
There is no better start to a career in construction.
