Steve Malmquist, senior site manager at Lovell, is officially one of the best construction managers in the UK. He has been presented with the silver award by the Construction Manager of the Year Awards at a glitzy ceremony hosted by TV star Claudia Winkleman. The Construction Manager of the Year Awards is amongst the most prestigious in the industry with judges visiting every construction site in the country to find the most impressive talent. In Steve’s category alone - Housing Project under £6m - 500 people were shortlisted and Steve was ranked second in the UK in this category. Steve says: “I never expected to be shortlisted, let alone win the silver award, so this is an absolute honour. “This award is credit not just to me, but to the whole team on the site, both the Lovell team and the contractors. “I’m very proud of the work Lovell does to build high quality homes for local families and I hope to continue helping create these strong, lasting communities for many years to come.” Steve has been awarded for his work at the Blenheim Grange Housing development in Watton. The national prize recognises, amongst other things, Steve’s outstanding attention to detail and his strong relationships with the local community. Steve was highly commended by the judges for his ability to deliver the project on time despite an eight week delay caused by last winter’s enduring snow. His efforts to keep residents informed through weekly visits to each household in the neighbourhood and manage each separate contractor on site made his entry stand out. Steve adds: “Watton was certainly one of the most challenging developments I have ever worked on in my 30 years in the industry. I can only thank the team I was working with at Lovell and the contractors working on site for their hard work and dedication.” Blenheim Grange is an affordable housing development built on the former RAF base. Lovell built the 33 flats on behalf of Orbit Group Limited. The project has already won Steve a Pride in the Job Award by the National House Building Council (NHBC) and recognition as a Considerate Constructor by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). |
