Lovell gives a helping hand to the construction workers of tomorrow

Lovell has given students at Trinity School in Nottingham a taster of life in the construction industry with a tour of the scheme at Stonebridge Park, Nottingham.

Lovell approached Trinity School with an opportunity to give students, who have chosen construction as an option for their Year 10 classes, experience of what it is like to work as a construction worker. The students were enthusiastic and eager to learn from the Lovell site team which provided an insight into the variety of work involved in construction and had a tour of the site. 07062011(004).jpg

Noel Adams, regional director of Lovell, says: "We are always happy to help tomorrow's construction workers, and were pleased to welcome students from Trinty School to our scheme at Stonebridge Park. The students wanted to learn more about our industry and they were keen to find out about life in construction and have a tour of the site.

"Both staff at Lovell and the students thoroughly enjoyed the day and we saw a lot of potential, there might even be some future apprentices in the making!"

Lovell was chosen by LHA-ASRA housing and regeneration group to build a £8.2 million development of 95 homes in Nottingham as part of an 18-month scheme that began in December 2010. The project has been able to go ahead thanks to a £5.6 million injection from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The company is working on the development to build a selection of two, three and four-bedroom houses across all sites including Eastham Close, Dennett Close, Magson Close and St Mattias Road in Nottingham. New residents will be able to choose a tenure to best meet their needs, and with options including rent and rent to homebuy, these new family homes will be accessible to the local community. The scheme is due to be completed in summer 2012.

Tara Willey, investment and regeneration manager for the HCA, adds: "In addition to investing heavily in the Stonebridge Park redevelopment, we actively encourage our partners to offer opportunities for local communities to experience the benefit of new construction. Lovell can be highly commended for this."
