Location: Tranent, East Lothian

Partners: East Lothian Housing Association Ltd

Project value: £4.9 million

Project status: On site

Building on previous successes

This project was negotiated as a result of our previous success in delivering a project for this client. The development will be undertaken over two phases: the first delivering 29 units, and the second delivering 25 units including flats, terraced houses and two bungalows meeting Housing for Varying Needs standards.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a key features of this project. The development features a range of sustainable and renewable energy initiatives mainly:

  • Ground source heat pumps providing, underfloor heating, aiming at
improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. This
reduces heating and hot water costs for the residents and also
improve air quality in the area

  • Prefabricated timber frame construction

  • High levels of insulation in the walls, floors and roofs included and in
addition low-energy specification doors and windows

  • Houses are orientated to take advantage of natural light

  • The ‘breathing’ wall construction helps the control of humidity.

Working with the local community

Lovell is totally committed to promoting the employment of not just local people but also local businesses. On this project we employed local labour who have recently been trained on our new safety decking system.
