What is involved as a Lovell Management Trainee?

At the same time as studying for relevant qualifications, you will spend time in each of the main departments in Lovell, to develop a broad understanding of the overall construction process.  Departments include surveying, buying, construction and sales.  Our trainees appreciate the opportunity to experience a wide variety of functions before deciding which area they would like to specialise in.  As you gain experience and confidence, you will take on tasks and projects which contribute to Lovell's objectives.

What qualifications do I study as a Management Trainee?

The qualifications you study in the management trainee programme depend on the qualifications and grades you already posses and any existing industry experience.  Qualifications include:

What are the entry requirements?

Each of the qualifications above have their own minimum entry requirements.  As we receive many more applications than we can place, we also list the likely level of qualifications for successful candidates. National Award in Construction

MINIMUM: You must be at least 16 years of age and hold 4 GCSE Grade C or above. If you are over 21 years of age and have appropriate industry experience, academic qualifications are not required.

How long does the programme last?

The management trainee programme can last up to five years, depending on the qualifications it is most appropriate for you to study. The BTEC Award and BTEC Certificate are both one year courses. The HNC in Construction is two years. A degree can take three years or more if studied part-time. Every Lovell management trainee programme is unique to the trainee concerned.

How much am I paid?

The exact salary paid will reflect the skills and experience you already hold.  As a baseline, a 16 year old straight out of school with GCSEs and no industry experience could expect to start at around £12,000.  All Lovell management trainees' salaries are reviewed every 6 months and increments of £500 are possible based on satisfactory performance.

What is my holiday entitlement?

Like other Lovell employees, you will receive 26 days holiday per year in addition to the Bank Holidays.  This entitlement will be detailed in your terms of employment. Lovell has rules about how far in advance holidays need to be booked and when they can and cannot be taken.

How do I apply for a position as a management trainee?

The application form will be available on this website when there are vacancies to fill.

What is the closing date for management trainee applications?
