Please describe a typical working day.

There is an enormous amount of people interaction. Sometimes you can compare yourself to a Mum. People come to you if they have a problem and you try your utmost to resolve it for them and make the problem go away. Being able to multi-task is a priority, you can be putting a recruitment pack together, answering the phone (under your chin) and replying to an email (with one handed typing) all at the same time.  One also needs to be vigilant on deadlines attached to requests presented to the Regional Director to ensure he/she reacts to the time scales involved. As in any industry, there are times when you have to deal with complaints which have been escalated to the Regional Director’s office. You have to appreciate that these clients have probably been passed from pillar to post before they reach you and you need to respond appropriately.
Please provide a summary of your career since leaving school:  Career has mainly been focused on office management within the banking industry. Prior to starting at Lovell I worked as Business Support Manager/PA to Board Director of Abbey National Treasury Services and Business Support Manager/ PA to Director of the Abbey Group PLC at their Head Office in Euston Square, London.
What encouraged you to join the construction industry?     After 10 years of commuting to London, I decided to secure a position more local to my home.  I guess I’m getting that little bit older and the sweaty trains and tubes in rush hour have lost their appeal. At the same time, the position at Lovell Partnerships Ltd, Cockfosters, was advertised and well the rest is history.
What qualifications did you start your career with?  Normal end of school certs.
What further qualifications or training have you achieved during your construction career?  Suzy Lampugh Lone Worker, Train the Trainer.
Please give an example of a recent project you have been working on:   I am working on a number of HR initiatives such as securing police checks for existing staff who work closely with the public and/or children. I am also assisting in the compilation of a new regional induction programme for new recruits.
What are the good and bad bits about your job?   Good bit:- The diversity in the role. Bad:- You cannot afford to have an “off” day – ever!
Where would you like to take your career in the future?   There is not a natural progression route for this position, however, the up side is that you are aware of all the vacancies first hand. So, if you’re interested in turning your hand to something new……
Was there anyone particularly supportive in your career who has helped you to perform or progress?     My old boss at Abbey. He was an amazing motivator and instilled confidence in all his team and developed their careers accordingly.
What is a typical salary band for this role?  £26 -£28,000
