What does your job involve?

It is a wide-ranging role that involves the co-ordination of sub-contactors, setting up sites and ensuring all utilities are in place, checking and issuing site drawings, and generally keeping jobs under review and keeping in close communication with both clients and contractors to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What qualifications did you start your career with?

None, although I put myself through a City & Guilds Carpentry and Joinery qualification. The only other thing I gained was a wide experience of the building industry.

  • Managing safely in construction

  • Risk assessments and method statements

  • Safe working at heights

  • Scaffold safety inspection

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Course

What is the salary for this job?

£33,000 - £42,000

What will be the next stage of your career?

At the moment I am quite happy doing what I do, although I would like to have some larger contracts to manage in the future.
