Name:Sian Diaz Job title:Business development manager What does your job involve?It is my job to identify opportunities for development, regeneration and refurbishment. I am heavily involved in: planning, development, and feasibility studies; site identification and selection; and economic regeneration initiatives. Planning and development takes into account the physical and social impact of the built environment, whilst recognising the commercial viability of any proposals. My expertise in property value, law, economics and market conditions are invaluable at all stages of development. I research and investigate new sites and prepare reports to present to the business development team and regional director. I spend time with various consultants - briefing architects, speaking to land agents, meeting land owners, councils and housing associations. It is important to communicate with people and build relationships which will ultimately bring in new development opportunities. I am often asked to get involved in education and training. As a CITB Construction Ambassador, I go into schools to speak to students about my role or the role of women in construction. What qualifications did you start your career with?
